To conclude this brief note, I’d like to say that what we’ve covered so far with ‘On Vision and Being Human’ is really to only outline the ‘problems’ of human visionary experience – its ‘otherness’, its perceptual ambiguity and its reporting of hidden realities which cannot generally be held to exist. In the ensuing chapters, we do not reject visionary experience because of these points as some have done, but rather we explore a diverse range of human phenomena and behaviours in order to seek solutions to these problems, convinced of the intrinsic value, if not necessarily the empirical reality, of vision. As I say in the Introduction, the journey and solutions may well be challenging and often strange, but I believe they can lead us to a completely new image of ourselves…
