Remembering Robert Hughes

Video from LiveLeak: Remembering Robert Hughes
I searched again for this video after reading a recent blog (the video doesn't work anymore on that blog), which I re-blogged on my (rarely used) Otto Rapp's Wordpress blog, titled
  The Art World Sham
I do encourage everyone to follow the link to read more on the original blog by trueoutsider (aka artist Bart Johnson). The reason I link to the re-blog is that it contains a link to a related blog of mine on Blogger that fits into this context: LAOKOON, ANTI-LAOKOON and ANTI-KOONS.   I thought the conversation between Roberto Mugrabi and Robert Hughes is priceless! I just hope this video will stay on the net, if not, I will have to search for it again, because I think it is a keeper!

Adinkras and the Nature of Reality - The Matrix is Real

The Matrix is Real [2014]

Picture

On this day, I received a message with a link to this video below. It started some research on my own, particularly since it resonates with many of my thoughts on the nature of reality - what follows are some personal thoughts and observations.
The description of this video lists names and keywords:
Philip Dick, Sylvester James Gates, Thomas Campbell, Sam Harris, Nick Bostrom, Dr. Quantum, The Matrix, Inception, Albert Einstein, Illusion, Computer Simulation, Adinkras, Supertstring Theory, Eugene Wigner, Simulation Argument, Quantum Physics, Quantum Mechanics, The Sims, Double Slit Experiment, Sumerian Tablets, Vatican Pine Cone, Pineal Gland, Nag Hammadi, Gospel of Thomas, Gnosticism, Gnosis, Dale B. Martin - Woolsey Professor of Religious Studies at Yale University

It makes my head spin because I look at such from all sides of the argument. I fancy myself thinking that the worlds I create (or enter into) in my mind are a alternate reality far removed from the one we occupy, and at the moment I am in it, it is as real..... images I create are not reproductions of scenes I experienced, but rather spontaneous creations from the subconscious, which I see as gateways of entering into these realities. Thus, the act of drawing is for me the drug of choice (and I had of late been drawing much more often than painting, since it is more immediate and direct).
While I find these speculations fascinating in itself (and Philip K. Dick, the name first mentioned in the video, is a SF writer),  to study and analyze this is like analyzing the chemical composition of pheromones emitted by a flower, instead of simply going with the flow and enjoying the moment.

These are arguments and counter-arguments, instead of being in the moment, moments that change with every move we make; even the fact that I am here watching this video and writing my thoughts down, instead of going out and taking a walk in the sunshine of a nice wintry afternoon.

What is God? Who is God? The answer lies within yourself. YOU create and manifest the reality you perceive as external around you, and you are responsible for what is happening in your universe.

Quantum mechanics (QM -- also known as quantum physics, or quantum theory) is a branch of physics which deals with physical phenomena at nanoscopic scales where the action is on the order of the Planck constant. It departs from classical mechanics primarily at the quantum realm of atomic and subatomic length scales. Quantum mechanics provides a mathematical description of much of the dual particle-like and wave-like behavior and interactions of energy and matter. Quantum mechanics provides a substantially useful framework for many features of the modern periodic table of elements including the behavior of atoms during chemical bonding and has played a significant role in the development of many modern technologies.

I have to admit, trying to read this paper Adinkras for Mathematicians, I got lost somewhere after the first couple of sentences ....... so I decided to go for my afternoon walk after all, and clear my head!

To commemorate St. Stephan's Day, here is a early 16th C painting by Austrian artist
Marx Reichlich (1460 to 1520).

The Stoning of St. Stephan, 1506

The Stoning of St. Stephan, 1506
Linen on Wood, 1506, 125 × 79 cm

Reichlich was a painter of primarily religious works. He painted a number of traditional scenes as commissions for churches, including "Adoration of the Magi", and "The Last Judgement". Some of his works reside at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. This particular work however is in the collection of the Alte Pinakothek in Munich.

 Help Bryan K. Ward

Picture
To help with Bryan K. Ward's recovery;
artist, father, friend, musician and visionary!

Bryan recently got into a severe accident. He is rather a solitary person, so many of you might not have heard what happened. While on a boat, he was struck in the head by the boom on a sailboat and sustained several hemorrhagic brain contusions, pneumocephalus, multiple facial fractures, and numerous chipped teeth.

This campaign is set up with the desire to help him pay medical bills and to support the time he will be unemployed. Bryan does have basic health insurance. However,  we are unsure how much will be covered and assume most of his dental will not. He is not supposed to work for at least 4-6 weeks or lift anything heavy during his recovery; this excludes working at his current job. Currently, he is home, basically bedridden, and it is unknown if any future medical conditions will be associated with the injuries.
