Ning outages on the private Visionary Art Network
According to the Ning Status Report, they are working on Error 500 issues. That last status is dated December 28th 2016. That we are now in the middle of February, I am a bit disturbed about this.
Of course this affects to a large extend our public Visionary Art Gallery since we rely on embedded slide shows from our private Ning network.
Hopefully this gets resolved soon - I mean, I am not getting any younger, and I certainly don't need those headaches.
I had been featuring a good number of our artists on the spin-off site Visionary Art Exhibition as well as featuring our Artists of the Month on You Tube. These features do not rely on Ning feeds, other than the 'Featured Artists' images on the VAE site would link to the respective artists pages on the VAG.
All artist pages on the VAG feature at least one image, plus a link to the artists own website, so if there is a outage of the embedded slide show, at least some functionality remains. I also stored a good selection of the best work from most of our artists off-line in case a outage or other glitch with this network develops we can at least continue featuring our artists on the public websites mentioned above. Should the outage persist, I could add these stored images to the artists pages, but this would require a lot of work and may take some time.

It opens next Friday (10th Feb) at 7.30pm, at Cupola Gallery in Sheffield, UK:

SNEZANA PETROVIC’S EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS & DRAWINGS “ALCHEMY OF LIFE”
Opening of Snezana Petrovic’s solo exhibition of paintings and drawings from the series “Alchemy of Life”
Djura Jaksic’s House (Skadarska 34, Belgrade, Serbia), January 21, 2017 from 19:00h
Snezana Petrovic is a Serbian female painter and printmaker of the young generation whose artworks belong to the genre of figurative surrealism and fantastic art.
The exhibition will feature the artworks realized in the fine art techniques of painting and drawing on which the artist is currently working and explores, created in the period of 2015-2016. The series represents a metaphoric representation of the invisible energy of nature that surrounds us in symbiosis with human’s unconsciousness.
This cultural event will be opened by Dragan Jovanovic Danilov, a Serbian notable poet, essayist and art critic. The text for the exhibition catalogue was written by Dejan Djoric, a Serbian prominent art critic and theoretician of art. The exhibition will last till January 31st, 2017.
From the text of the exhibition catalogue by Dejan Djoric, an art critic:
“A beautiful girl, with a beautiful name is now audaciously creating not a fantastic, but, perhaps it is better to say, magical art. She is telling an enchanted tale of the dreamy princes and their brides, a fairy tale about the princesses, knights and monsters, fishes and balloons, maidens and spiritual warriors. The imaginarium of Snezana Petrovic is a well of good news, images which please the eye, memories of lovely creatures, ladies and gallant gentlemen of the European courts. Her speech is hidden, alchemical, and her world utterly symbolical, thus inexhaustible. Although it is possible to classify this visual symbolism, her choice of topics and motifs ideally disappears in the inconceivable, secret and poetic, leaving the viewer to feel and experience the work. Finally, ecce pictor, here is the painter whose understandable and acceptable hermetism returns towards the femininity in the best, although the most difficult, way – by using a consummate skill, which is forgotten and, more and more frequently, forbidden.”
About the artist:
Snezana Petrovic was born in 1977 in Novi Sad, Serbia. She graduated from the Academy of Arts of the University of Novi Sad in 2004 in the class of Professor Milan Stanojev at the Department of Printmaking. In 2008 she obtained a Magister of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from the Academy of Arts of the University of Novi Sad in the class of Professor Radovan Jandric. In 2015 she obtained a Doctor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia under the mentorship of Professor Zarko Smiljanic. She has participated in 16 solo and more than 90 group exhibitions, both in Serbia and worldwide and has won several awards for her artworks.
