SNEZANA PETROVIC’S EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS & DRAWINGS “ALCHEMY OF LIFE”
Opening of Snezana Petrovic’s solo exhibition of paintings and drawings from the series “Alchemy of Life”
Djura Jaksic’s House (Skadarska 34, Belgrade, Serbia), January 21, 2017 from 19:00h
Snezana Petrovic is a Serbian female painter and printmaker of the young generation whose artworks belong to the genre of figurative surrealism and fantastic art.
The exhibition will feature the artworks realized in the fine art techniques of painting and drawing on which the artist is currently working and explores, created in the period of 2015-2016. The series represents a metaphoric representation of the invisible energy of nature that surrounds us in symbiosis with human’s unconsciousness.
This cultural event will be opened by Dragan Jovanovic Danilov, a Serbian notable poet, essayist and art critic. The text for the exhibition catalogue was written by Dejan Djoric, a Serbian prominent art critic and theoretician of art. The exhibition will last till January 31st, 2017.
From the text of the exhibition catalogue by Dejan Djoric, an art critic:
“A beautiful girl, with a beautiful name is now audaciously creating not a fantastic, but, perhaps it is better to say, magical art. She is telling an enchanted tale of the dreamy princes and their brides, a fairy tale about the princesses, knights and monsters, fishes and balloons, maidens and spiritual warriors. The imaginarium of Snezana Petrovic is a well of good news, images which please the eye, memories of lovely creatures, ladies and gallant gentlemen of the European courts. Her speech is hidden, alchemical, and her world utterly symbolical, thus inexhaustible. Although it is possible to classify this visual symbolism, her choice of topics and motifs ideally disappears in the inconceivable, secret and poetic, leaving the viewer to feel and experience the work. Finally, ecce pictor, here is the painter whose understandable and acceptable hermetism returns towards the femininity in the best, although the most difficult, way – by using a consummate skill, which is forgotten and, more and more frequently, forbidden.”
